Early morning light is special, every photographer worth their salt knows that. That’s why we are getting up an hour before dawn at least a few days while on vacation to go shoot, and one day maybe earlier (I’m not sure I’ve clued Mike in on this really early day), but while still here I went to check out a reservoir that is kind of on my way to work. I’ve shot this reservoir in the fall 2 years ago in the late afternoon but wanted to get an idea of how it would be in the still of dawn. So I left the house a bit early to see how long the drive would take and what the conditions are and forgot my coffee, which I guess isn’t so bad since it’s decaf. The reservoir was still..no wind ruffling the water, the leaves are just turning and…the sun is coming up over the trees. So much for a morning shoot before work, and if I’d thought about it I would have realized that if looked good in the late afternoon it wasn’t going to look good in the morning. Things like this me long for the days I lived down in Newport and I drove past the beach every morning on the way to my office, too bad I’d given up photography back then.

In Camera Image Stabilization….WOW!
Face Recognition (not a big one for me no matter how hard I try I can not do justice to people when taking pictures)
It is not full frame-the only downfall I see, I was hoping for a replacement for the 5D in that respect
Micro Autofocus adjustment
And more
Well, I think I’m glad I didn’t buy that 5D that I was thinking about….
