Canon 50D

The newest Canon has just been announced… in China.  I can’t read Chinese but Bob Atkins apparently has the people who can read the article to find out more about…

In Camera Image Stabilization….WOW!

Face Recognition (not a big one for me no matter how hard I try I can not do justice to people when taking pictures)

It is not full frame-the only downfall I see, I was hoping for a replacement for the 5D in that respect

Micro Autofocus adjustment

And more

Well, I think I’m glad I didn’t buy that 5D that I was thinking about….

I think this makes me happy that I did buy the 5D. I wanted a full frame camera and I am not disappointed in the least with it. I love it. I am really surprised to see that Canon didn’t make this one a full frame… it was supposed to be the 5D replacement but I see it falling short in this category. Especially since Nikon just released a full frame camera to battle the 5D.

I’m guessing that there will be a full frame replacement for the 5D. Bob Atkins has another news link to the 5D replacement (http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/digital/canon_eos_5d_mkII_4D_6D.html) from August 13 that indicates that there will be a 5D replacement, probably known as the 7D instead of the 5D mkII. As much as I’d love a full frame camera, the 5D isn’t going to be it, I’ll wait and see what the 7D will be like. If it is going to be a challenger to the Nikon D700 I’m guessing it will have the features of the 50D, be full frame and have a reasonable price point.

Yeah, I just looked up some info on this and saw that the 50D isn’t the 5D replacement which I initially thought it was. So this one isn’t the D700 killer. They sure are taking their time announcing the 5D replacement. I sure hope it is good!!

But yeah… I wouldn’t go from the 5D to the 50D. It is interesting that they are now selling a 50D and a 40D. I guess this means that the 20D-30D-40D line is done. They ran out of a new number to use!

Dang… now I have to go back to waiting for the news of the 5D replacement to see if I feel like I should have waited or not. Of course at the price the 7D (or whatever) will come out at I will still feel like I made the right call. :)

Ah, I thought you got a new camera already. I would definately go for the 5d mii if you can swing it. A workhorse camera with a great sensor that will last years. I have had the original 5d and love it.

I actually do have it, got it about 3 months ago and absolutely love it! I’m hoping mine will last as long as yours has!
